PNP nabs 20 crime suspects
AGENTS of the Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested 20 crime suspects, 13 of whom facing non-bailable rape and acts of lasciviousness cases, the Journal Group learned Sunday.
Acting on information provided by the PNP Intelligence Group (PNP-IG) under its Officer-in-Charge Brigadier General Romeo J. Mapacaz, the crime suspects were arrested in a string of manhunts, a report to PNP chief General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil said.
One of the suspects, Junard Tapon, was arrested in Butuan City last August 30 following operations conducted by the Regional Intelligence Unit-13. The suspect, accused of raping a minor, is a subject of a non-bailable warrant of arrest for statutory rape issued by the Butuan City Regional Trial Court Branch 1.
A 2nd suspect, Rahnel Banta, the subject of a warrant for statutory rape, was tracked down in Cabanatuan City last September 1. Another suspect, Michael Bido Jr., was arrested in Angeles City for statutory rape.
Mario Perez, the subject of a non-bailable warrant of arrest for acts of lasciviousness, was caught in Bongabong, Oriental Mindoro last Sept. 1. Another suspect, Francisco Gagelonia Jr., 40, was arrested for qualified rape last August 19 in Bamban on the same day.
Arriane Mago, 23, was arrested for rape and rape by sexual assault. RIU-5 and policemen apprehended Mago in Mabalacat City, Pampanga last September 3. The 7th suspect, identified as Robert Gorthom, 52, was tracked down in Sto. Domingo, Ilocos Sur.
Augusto Lucas, 54, was in Jones on the strength of a warrant of arrest for qualified rape and acts of lasciviousness. Another suspect, Jesus Paragua, 28, was arrested in in San Pablo municipality on the strength of a warrant for statutory rape with no bail recommended by the Cabagan RTC Branch 22.
The 10th suspect, Raymart Villagonzalo, 23, was arrested in Norzagaray, Bulacan. The 11th suspect, Johnny Torres, 49, also wanted for acts of lasciviousness, was arrested in Castillejos, Zambales last Sept. 3. policemen. The 12th, identified as John Lloyd Calagnan, 20, was tracked down by RIU-10 and police operatives in Tupi, South Cotabato.
The 13th suspect, identified as Lorenzo Carpio, 49, was arrested in Balanga City, Bataan on the basis of a warrant for acts of lasciviousness issued by the Balanga City Family Court Branch 2.
Brig. Gen. Macapaz said the seven other arrested suspects were Joey Luciano, 43, for a robbery with homicide in Calbayog City; Brian Laguidao for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002; Rustom Tan, 30, and Benzon Taneo, 38, for robbery with homicide in Calbayog City; Mark Anthony Perez, 63, for violation of RA 9165 case; and Francis Bodoña, 31; Freddie del Prado, 46; and Paul Bodoña Sr., 52, for murder and attempted and frustrated murder in Abra.
