PNP-IG agents ‘neutralize’ most wanted foreigner
FIVE most wanted persons in the country including a Chinese national wanted for fraud in Mainland China were ‘neutralized’ by government agents following ‘intelligence packets’ provided by the Philippine National Police Intelligence Group (PNP-IG) this month,’ the Journal Group learned on Saturday.
Under the leadership of PNP Director for Intelligence, Major General Westrimundo D. Obinque, the PNP-IG headed by Colonel Frankie C. Candelario provided the exact information that led to the capture of 46-year-old Lianfeng Ding, an undesirable alien with an Interpol Blue Notice.
Col. Candelario said the suspect was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 in Pasay City last February 4 by joint personnel of their Foreign Liaison and Intelligence Division, Regional Intelligence Unit 7, and Technical Support Division.
Th PNP-IG was joined by operatives from the Fugitive Section Unit of the Bureau of Immigration, the Aviation Security Group, and the Makati City Police Station in apprehending the Chinese national on the strength of a BI mission order relative to a warrant of arrest issued against him by the Binzhou Public Security Bureau in Shandong, China for fraud.
A further investigation showed that the fugitive acquired a Filipino passport and a late-registered birth certificate under the name of ‘Pitaya Molina Ting’ in Meycauyan, Bulacan in 2019.
Last Feb. 9, the RIU 14 also became instrumental in the capture of alias ‘Rowel’, a 24-year-old native of Apayao wanted for statutory rape and sexual assault. Judge Marbin Aniceto of the Apayao Regional Trial Court Branch 26 recommended no bail for the rape case filed against the accused last January 25.
Col. Candelario said his men managed to track down the suspect with the help of the Cordillera police force in Barangay Mabuti in Marcos, Ilocos Norte. The accused has been tagged as the No. 1 Regional Most Wanted Person in Cordillera prior to his capture.
