AN “intelligence packet” provided by agents of the Philippine National Police Intelligence Group (PNP-IG) resulted in the capture of the one of the country’s most wanted rape suspects, the Journal Group learned yesterday.

Hamil Omenia, a 43-year-old resident of Bagong Silang, Bgy. 176 in Caloocan City, was tracked down before Christmas Day by members of the Regional Intelligence Unit 6 and arrested on the strength of a warrant of arrest for qualified rape and lascivious conduct issued by Judge Mario Andres of the Bugasong Regional Trial Court Branch 64 in Antique province.

The Antique judge recommended no bail for the temporary liberty of the accused in connection with the qualified rape case filed against him, said PNP-IG Acting Director Col. Jackie C. Candelario.

The accused was allowed to post a P180,000 bail for the acts of lasciviousness case filed by the police.

Candelario said a record check showed that the suspect , who was tagged as a member of the 2Castro Gang” which is included in the list of the PNP Directorate for Intelligence, went into hiding after being accused of raping a minor in San Jose, Antique last September 4.

Members of the Antique Police Provincial Office and the Northern Police District-District Special Operations Unit assisted the RIU6 of the PNP-IG in arresting the accused.
