PNP-IG agents capture 2 terror suspects
TWO most wanted terror personalities in the country are now in jail after being captured by Philippine National Police agents as a result of information developed by its Intelligence Group.
One of the suspects identified as Jackaria Siddik Jamani, a member of the Abu Sayyaf Group wanted for a non-bailable kidnapping and serious illegal detention case, was arrested at the boundary of Zamboanga City and the seawater of Basilan Strait, PNP-IG director Col. Frankie C. Candelario told the Journal Group.
The official reported to PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco D. Marbil that members of their Regional Intelligence Unit 9 provided the “intel packet” which enabled the Zamboanga City Police Office, the Police Regional Office 9 Regional Intelligence Division, the Regional Maritime Unit, the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Administrative Region and the PNP Special Action Force to capture the suspect around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Candelario said that the 35-year-old resident of Bgy. Nala in Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte is the subject of a non-bailable warrant of arrest for kidnapping and serious illegal detention issued by Judge Anthony Isaw of the Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte Regional Trial Court Branch 27 last December 26.
He and his co-accused Walid Alih, Bogah Ayah and Abdul Sahibad were hunted for their involvement in the kidnapping-for-ransom of American national Elliot Eastman in Subuco municipality on October 17 last year.
The Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU) 13 also developed the “intel packet,” which resulted in the arrest of Jhon Lino Cabrera alias “Mark/Macoy/Rom,” a suspected member of the CPP/NPA Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee operating in Surigao del Norte.
The 23-year-old suspect from Bgy. La Purisima in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur was arrested on the basis of a warrant for two counts of murder issued by Judge Den Cagas of the San Jose, Surigao del Norte RTC Branch 32 on January 18, 2023.
Officers from the RIU13, the Agusan del Norte Police Provincial Office and the PNP-SAF captured the accused last January 2.
