PNP-IG agents arrest ranking CPP/NPA official in Baguio City
AN “intelligence packet” provided by the Regional Intelligence Unit 14 of the Philippine National Police Intelligence Group has resulted in the capture of a ranking official of the Communist Party of the Philippines/New People’s Army in Baguio City, the Journal Group learned yesterday.
PNP-IG officer-in-charge Col. Frankie C. Candelario identified the suspect as Sara Abellon Alikes, a 65-year-old resident of Lamut, Ifugao who was tagged as a deputy secretary of the Regional Urban White Area Committee of the CPP/NPA Ilocos Cordillera Regional Committee.
Included in the government’s 2024 2nd Quarter Periodic Status Report on wanted rebel personalities, the suspect was arrested on the strength of a warrant for violation of Republic Act 10168 or the Terrorism Financing Prevention and Suppression Act of 2012 issued by Judge Christma Vismanos-Nabua of the Urdaneta City Regional Trial Court Branch 73 in Pangasinan last November 15.
The court recommended a P200,000 bail for the temporary liberty of the accused.
Members fo the RIU14, the Baguio City Police Office, the Cordillera Police Regional Office, Military Intelligence Group, the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Baguio City Criminal Investigation and Detection Group were involved in the operation.
