PHILIPPINE National Police Highway Patrol Group director Brig. Gen. William M. Segun yesterday announced the arrest of two of the country’s most wanted car theft suspects following separate manhunt operations last Monday.

One of the suspects identified as Emmanuel Ramos, a 41-year-old driver, was apprehended in Sitio Hinapao, Bgy. San Jose, Antipolo City, by members of the Regional Highway Patrol Unit 4-A on the strength of a warrant for violation of Republic Act 10883 or the new Anti-Carnapping Act issued by Judge Cesar Huliganga of the Parañaque City Regional Trial Court Branch 196 last October 11.

The court recommended a P300,000 bail for the temporary liberty of the accused who was temporarily locked up at the Antipolo City Police Jail.

Members of the Rizal Provincial Highway Patrol Unit and the Antipolo City Police Station Warrant Section tracked down the suspect, tagged as the city’s 5th most wanted person following tips from informants, said Segun.

The second identified as Cedrick Jimenez,22, was arrested in Bgy. Naalad in Naga City, Cebu by members of the Cebu PHPT, the official said.

The suspect residing in Bgy. Tunghaan in Minglanilla, Cebu is the subject of a warrant for violation of RA 10883 issued by Judge Dennis Larrobis of the Naga City, Cebu RTC Branch 76, with a P300,000 recommended bail.

Segun said the arrest of the two is part of their intensified effort to account for all wanted car theft suspects in the country as ordered by PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco D. Marbil who himself was once a former PNP-HPG director.
