PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Officer-in-Charge, Lieutenant General Vicente D. Danao Jr. on Monday led the entire force in honoring over 3,000 police officers and men who have served as United Nations peacekeepers in different troubled countries abroad since 1992

“Today, we honor the 3,226 PNP United Nation deployments from 1992 to present and the PNP UN Veterans for their selfless service not only to our beloved Philippines but the international community of free nations,” the top cop said.

The PNP commemorated the 2022 International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers during the traditional Monday flag-raising rites at Camp Crame attended by its former UN peacekeepers, among them Brigadier Generals Vincent Calanoga, Clifford Gairanod, Andre Dizon and Bowenn Joey Masauding, Colonel Jenelle Montemayor and Lieutenant Col. Philip Maraggun, all of them wearing their UN berets.

“Let me emphasize that nothing is more urgent today than to secure local, regional, and international peace. The Filipino people and the international community look upon us all to strengthen peace and sustainable development in the country and in every country we serve, with the solid foundation of law and order. Thus, let us continue to stand in solidarity as we make the world a better place where there is safety, security, and prosperity for all,” Lt. Gen. Danao said.

Forty PNP UN peacekeepers were given certificates of recognition during the Monday occasion.

They include Lieutenant Colonels Rex Cuntapay, Nieves dela Peña, Imelda Reyes, Jil Echzyl Daep, Psyche Osia, Maribel Damaso, Sancho Celedio, Reynaldo Helaga and Alex Manlangit, Captains Emily Osea and Sozimo Prado II; Lieutenants Eda Nagaño, Jimeli Acuña, Judith Surat, Edgar Arugay and Liezel Mones.
