PNP gets ‘move, shoot’ apparatus vs crimes–PNP chief

PNPNEARLY P554 million worth of brand-new weapons and vehicles have been added to the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) assets as it further modernizes its ‘move, shoot, communicate and investigate capabilities’ to address criminality under General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil.

The new guns and vehicles procured by the PNP were presented to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin C. Abalos Jr. by Gen. Marbil and PNP Director for Logistics, Major Gen. Mario A. Reyes.

The Commander-in-Chief inspected the newly-procured equipment before he spoke during the occasion of the PNP’s 123rd anniversary last week.

The new equipment include 20 4×4 Personnel Carrier, 299 150cc light motorcycle dirt bikes; 193 marked light transport vehicles; 75 4×2 single cab patrol jeeps and 155 caliber 5.56 light machine guns.

“A recent procurement valued at P553,342,820 includes personal carriers, light motorcycles, transport vehicles, patrol jeeps, light machine guns,” Gen. Marbil said in his speech.

“The PNP’s Capability Enhancement Program is committed to advancing our move, shoot, communicate, and investigate capabilities,” Gen. Marbil said.

The PNP chief said “this initiative encompasses a fleet of 2,317 vehicles, 28,580 firearms, and 8,189 pieces of communication and investigation equipment.”

Last January, the PNP also unveiled nearly P478 million worth of police equipment needed to further improve their response time, mobility and operational readiness.

The PNP equipment presented last January with a total price of P477,434,420.67 were sourced under the PNP’s Capability Enhancement Program 2021 and 2023, 2021 and 2022 Balances, PITC or Philippine International Trading Corporation and Congress-introduced Increases in Appropriations or CIA 2022 of Senators Juan Edgardo M. Angara and Imee Marcos and Ilocos Norte (1st District) Representative Ferdinand Alexander ‘Sandro’ Marcos.

The brand-new police equipment unveiled last January were 108 Toyota 4×2 patrol jeeps with a total contract price of P132,819,264 and the money was sourced from the PNP’s CEP 2023.

Also procured were 11 KServico 150cc dirt bikes worth P1,570,800.00 and the money was sourced from the CIA 2022 sponsored by Rep. Marcos; 5 650cc KServico motorcycles worth P2,973,600.00 with the money coming from the CIA 2022 sponsored by Sen. Marcos; 3,243 Striker-fired 9mm semi-automatic pistols with a contract price of P61,473,302.67; 101 monocular Autogated Night Vision equipment worth P28,672,688.00 from MKU Limited; 305 monocular Autogated Night Vision with a contract price of P92,328,075; 599 tactical vests with a contact price of P23,947,421; and 2,049 tactical vests with a contract price of P90,627,270.
