PNP-DEG nabs 5 drug suspects
PHILIPPINE National Police-Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) Director Brigadier General Randy Q. Peralta, on Saturday, announced the arrest of five wanted drug personalities in the country in the wake of their ongoing effort to account for all persons covered with warrants of arrest for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
“This is part of our ongoing intensified effort to jail all wanted drug personalities as ordered by PNP Officer-in-Charge, Lieutenant General Vicente D. Danao Jr.,” the official said.
Brig. Gen. Peralta said that one of the suspects, a jobless resident of Pechay Street in Green Valley Compound, Manuyo Dos in Las Piñas City, was arrested last Thursday on the strength of a warrant issued by the Parañaque City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 194.
The 2nd suspect is a resident of Bgy. 343 in Sampaloc, Manila, was arrested along Lacson St. in Zone 49, Bgy. 499. Brig. Gen. Peralta said that the Quezon City RTC Branch 103 ordered the arrest of the accused.
A tricycle driver in Butuan City was arrested based on a warrant issued by the Butuan City RTC Br. 2, and a P60,000 bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the accused, who was tracked down in his hiding place in Bgy. Imadejas.
The fourth drug suspect, a resident of Piapi, Boulevard 22-C in Davao City, was arrested near DCOTT corner Maya-Maya Street in the Ecoland area last Thursday. The suspect is the subject of a warrant of arrest issued by the Isulan, Sultan Kudarat RTC Br. 19.
The fifth suspect, a pedicab driver from Bgy. 27 in Bacolod City, was arrested based on a warrant issued by the Bacolod City RTC Br. 6.
Brig. Gen. Peralta said that they will keep custody of the five until they get a release order from the court once they are able to post their recommended bail. By Alfred Dalizon
