PNP-DEG nabs 4 druggies, over P1M shabu seized
AGENTS of the Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) have arrested four targets during a series of anti-narcotics operations, leading to the seizure of over P1 million worth of shabu last week
The official said that one of the suspects, identified as Liza Lausa alias “Inday”, a 54-year-old resident of Fiesta Home, Bgy. Sum-ag in Bacolod City was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by operatives of the DEG Special Operations Unit 6 and the local police around 7:45 p.m. last Saturday.
Recovered from the suspect’s possession were around 155 grams of shabu valued at P1.054 million, and the buy-bust money topped by 12 marked P1,000 and one P500.
The suspect is now facing a non-bailable case for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and is being held in a local police jail, said the PNP-DEG director.
The three other suspects were arrested on the strength of warrants for violation of RA 9165 issued by different courts, Brig. Gen. Peralta said.
One of them identified as Bienvenido Sabalande, 37, of Bgy. Gaas in Balamban, Cebu, was arrested on the basis of a warrant issued by Judge Ruben Altubar of the Toledo City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 29 on June 30, 2016, with no bail recommended.
He is now being held at the Balamban Police lock-up facility.
Another identified as Joart Quistadio, 28, a resident of Purok 2 Camote in Bgy. Maon in Butuan City was arrested last Friday on the strength of a non-bailable warrant for violation of RA 9165 issued by Judge Emmanuel Escatron of the Butuan City RTC Br. 2.
The 3rd suspect, identified as Maricon dela Cruz, 50, of Purok Pilipinhon, Bgy. 30, Bacolod City, was arrested on Sunday based on a warrant issued by Judge Mary Jennifer Protasio-Arches of the Bago City RTC Br. 62.
She is now being held at the Bacolod City Jail, pending her turnover to court. By: Alfred Dalizon
