AGENTS of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Sunday morning stormed a clandestine marijuana plantation site in Kiblawan, Davao del Sur where they uprooted and destroyed an estimated P1 million worth of the prohibited crops, PNP Drug Enforcement Group director, Brigadier General Narciso D. Domingo said.

In a report to PNP chief, General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr., the official said the fully-grown cannabis crops and seedlings were found growing in Sitio Alperes in Barangay Kimlawis, Kiblawan following days of surveillance.

Domingo said operatives from the PNP-DEG Special Operations Unit 11 spearheaded the massive marijuana eradication drive.

They were assisted by troops from the Kiblawan Municipal Police Station, Davao del Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company and the Police Regional Office 11 Regional Mobile Force Battalion under Brig. Gen. Benjamin H. Silo Jr.

No arrest was made during the operation which saw officers uprooting over 5,000 marijuana crops and burning them on site.

“This is part of our ongoing effort to locate and destroy all secret marijuana plantation sites in the country. We would also like to prevent the possibility they would be smuggled in urban areas including Metro Manila,” said Domingo. Alfred Dalizon
