PNP-DEG jails 5 top drug targets
PHILIPPINE National Police Drug Enforcement Group director Brig. Gen. Eleazar P. Matta yesterday announced the arrest of five of their top targets following four separate anti-narcotics operations which yielded nearly P900,000 worth of shabu.
The official said that one of the suspects identified as alias “Adok,” a 27-year-old resident of Labangon, Cebu City, was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Purok GEmilina, Bgy. Pooc, Santa Fe, Cebu 7:50 p.m. Tuesday.
The suspect yielded three heat-sealed plastic sachets containing 57 grams of the “poor man’s cocaine” valued at P387,000 during the sting conducted by the PDEG Special Operations Unit 7, with the support of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, the Santa Fe Municipal Police Station in Cebu, the Regional Intelligence Unit 7 of the Police Regional Office 7 and the PNP Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group.
Two other suspects identified through their aliases “Rene,” a 44-year-old native of Lanao del Norte, and “Joey,” 28, of Initao, Misamis Oriental, were arrested in an anti-drug operation in Purok Gemilina, Bgy. Lower Bayao in Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur around 6:40 p.m. Sunday.
Undercover officers from the PDEG SOU 9, with the support of the Police Regional Office 9, conducted the sting wherein the two suspects were arrested after they conspired to sell 50 grams of shabu valued at P340,000 to a poseur.
The fourth suspect identified as alias “Boss,” a 44-year-old female resident of New Washington Village in Ma-a, Davao City, was arrested in an entrapment operation on CM Del Rosario St. in Bgy. Sto. Niño in Tugbok District past 2 a.m. Sunday.
Operatives of the PDEG SOU 11 recovered three heat-sealed plastic sachets containing 10 grams of shabu worth P68,000 from the suspect.
A record check showed that the suspect was also detained for a drug-related offense in 2016.
The fifth “high-value target” identified as alias “Roderic,” a 44-year-old resident of Magsingal, Ilocos Sur, was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Sitio Nagaparan, Bgy. Sta. Monica around 4:25 p.m. Sunday.
PDEG-SOU 1 agents confiscated a plastic packet containing five grams of shabu worth P34,000 from the suspect.
Matta said that also recovered during those three operations were the buy-bust money topped by marked bills.
All five accused are facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
