PNP-DEG arrests 7 drug offenders

SEVEN wanted drug personalities in the country have been accounted for by the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) in separate anti-narcotics and manhunt operations in the country last week, the Journal Group learned yesterday.

One of the seven yielded P34,000 worth of shabu in a buy-bust operation in Tondo, Manila while the six are all the subjects of warrants of arrest issued by different regional trial courts in the country, said PNP-DEG director, Brigadier General Narciso D. Domingo.

The official reported to PNP chief, General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr. that three of the accused have already been ordered to serve their jail terms by the court while two others are facing non-bailable cases for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

“This is part of our ongoing efforts to account for all wanted drug personalities in the country to prevent them from continuing their illegal drug activities while still at-large,” said the PNP-DEG director.

He added that suspect Richard Gadja, a 21-year old resident of Tondo, Manila was arrested in a sting in his neighborhood on Sunday afternoon which led to the confiscation of some five grams of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ valued at P34,000, the buy-bust money topped by a marked P1,000 bill and several drug paraphernalia.

The official said the 2nd identified 46-year-old Dante Abol, tagged by the Quezon City Police District Station 7 as the 7th most wanted man in their list was arrested in Barangay Gulod, Q.C. last Tuesday by members of the PNP-DEG National Capital Region with the assistance of the local police.

He added that the suspect is the subject of a non-bailable warrant issued by Judge Felino Elefante of the Q.C. Regional Trial Court Branch 103. The suspect has been turned over to the QCPD Station 4.

Another identified as Joni Jun Bohol,40, was arrested on the same afternoon in Quiapo, Manila by PNP-DEG operatives on the basis of a warrant for violation of RA 9165 with no bail recommended by Judge Armida Geronimo of the Manila City RTC Branch 175 last December 6.

The other suspects were identified as Mark Anthony Elvambuena,30; Khim Rose Deria,25; Rocky Arcilla,36; and Allan Javellana,39.

Elvambuena was served a warrant of arrest for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under RA 9165 and an order for Service of Sentence issued by Judge Elenita Evangelista-Casipit of the Gapan City RTC Branch 36 by officers from the PNP-DEG SOU 1 and the local police. The suspect was found detained at the Gapan City Police Station 10 jail.

Deria was served a warrant for his arrest and Service of Sentence issued by Judge Ana Celeste Bernad of the Bacolod City RTC Branch 44 at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology facility in Bacolod City.

Members of the DEG-SOU 6 served the warrant issued against the accused.

The 3rd suspect identified as Arcilla is the subject of a warrant for illegal possession of drugs and Service of Sentence issued by Judge Ira Fritzie Cruz-Rojo of the Pasig City RTC Branch 67. DEG-NCR officers arrested the suspect along Masikap Street, Tawiran Extension in Santolan, Pasig City on Wednesday.

Javellana was arrested in General Santos City by operatives of the PNP-DEG SOU 12 on the strength of a warrant issued by Judge Renato Tampac of the General Santos City RTC Branch 59. The judge recommended a P200,000 bail for the temporary liberty o the accused who is now being held at the local police jail said Brig. Gen. Domingo.
