PNP-DEG agents nab 3 most wanted drug suspects
AGENTS of the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) have arrested three most wanted drug personalities in the country, all of them facing non-bailable cases for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, PNP-DEG director, Brigadier General Remus B. Medina announced on Monday.
In a report to PNP chief, General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar, the official said one of the suspects identified as Renato Pineda, a 54-year old carpenter from Barangay Telabastagan in San Fernando City, Pampanga was arrested 7 a.m. Monday on the strength of a warrant for violation of RA 9515 and RA 9516 or illegal possession of explosives.
The warrants were issued by Judge Pal Ramil Atolba Jr. of the Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya Regional Trial Court Branch 27 last January 22.
The 2nd suspect identified as Kokie Ceballos Labrador,22, a resident of Magsaysay Street in Bgy. Pasil in Cebu City was arrested last Saturday by PNP-DEG officers on the basis of a warrant for violation of RA 9165 issued by Judge Marlou Jay Moneva of the Cebu City RTC Branch 15 last August 26.
The 3rd identified as Eduardo Boteja,51, was tracked down in his residence at no. 2114 De Hula St. in Bgy. T. de Leon in Valenzuela City last Thursday and was arrested on the strength of a warrant issued by Judge Evangeline Francisco of the Valenzuela City RTC Branch 270.
The suspect is now being held at the PNP-DEG lock-up facility in Camp Crame, Quezon City pending his presentation to court.
Brig. Gen. Medina said the arrests were made in line with their intensified effort to account for most wanted drug personalities in the country despite the current pandemic.
“Amidst another surge of COVID-19 wherein some members of the PNP-DEG have bene infected, we still put our best foot forward and are courageously sweeping our streets to make our communities a better place to live in,” the official said.
