FIVE drug trafficking personalities were arrested by agents of the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) in separate buy-bust operations in the countryside last Friday which led to the seizure of over P1 million worth of shabu, PNP-DEG director, Brigadier General Narciso D. Domingo said on Sunday.

The official added that one of the suspects identified as King Richard Abada, 19, was arrested by undercover officers from the PNP-DEG Special Operations Unit 13 in Butuan City after he sold 55 grams of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ valued at P374,000 around 2:50 a.m. Friday.

The four others identified as Christian Cañita,40; Jay Baldonasa,36; Fernando Alimorong,58; and Meriam Dacuma,35, were arrested while allegedly conspiring with each other to sell drugs to a poseur from the PNP-DEG SOU 5 8:45 p.m. of the same day.

Brig. Gen. Domingo said that recovered from the suspects were 100 grams of shabu worth P680,000, drug paraphernalia and the buy-bust money topped by a marked P500 bill.

The official said his men launched the sting with the full support of the Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5) headed by Brig. Gen. Rudolph B. Dimas in Canaman, Camarines Sur.

The arrested suspects are facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, the official added.
