PNP-DEG advisory group conducts medical mission in San Miguel

MEMBERS of the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group and its Advisory Group on Saturday launched a successful medical mission in San Miguel, Bulacan which benefited over 200 local residents.

In coordination with the PNP-DEG headed by Brigadier General Narciso D. Domingo, the PNP-DEG Advisory Group chaired by Dr. Cho Chiong Tan motored to Barangay Buliran in San Miguel to bring cheers to local folks during the event held at the Buliran Elementary School.

The event saw a group of doctors from Manila led by Dra. Jocelyn I. Ilagan providing free medical consultation to the residents who also received vitamins and some prescription medicines courtesy of the PNP-DEG advisers.

Another member of the advisory group, Jonah C. Martin provided a lecture called ‘Nasa Safe Space Ka Ba?’ to members of the youth sector in Bgy. Buliran who also received a drug awareness seminar from Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Gonzales to help keep them away from drugs.

Basketballs and grocery packs with rice and canned goods as well as lunch and snacks were also provided to the beneficiaries.

Apart from Doctors Tan and Ilagan and Martin, other members of the DEG Advisory Group involved in the medical mission were Benito Legarda, Pastor Cesar C. Lubrico and Professor Rommel C. Banlaoi and a team from the PNP-DEG led by Laarne C. Rivera.

The group is actively helping the PNP-DEG, the lead police unit tasked to conduct an aggressive campaign against illegal drug trafficking and abuse in the country, in its effort to further improve public awareness on the evils of drugs thru lectures aimed at supporting the unit’s anti-drug advocacy program in support to PNP chief, General Rodolfo S. Azurin’s anti-crime measures.

Saturday’s charity medical mission and anti-illegal drug prevention awareness campaign was conducted by the PNP-DEG and its Advisory Group with the support of Kokuryu Cosmetics, Mga Gawa Acts, the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. and some other Good Samaritans. It was held in coordination with Bgy. Buliran chairman Joseph Pascual.
