TWO persons, one of them a 67-year old Canadian national were arrested by agents of the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group for involvement in various cyber felonies, a report to PNP chief, General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar said on Tuesday.

PNP-ACG director, Brigadier Gen. Robert T. Rodriguez said that Canadian Blaine Lee Dell was arrested on the strength of a warrant for cyber-libel issued by the Calapan City Regional Trial Court Branch 39 in Oriental Mindoro 2 p.m. Monday.

The official said that members of the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit Mimaropa served the warrant of arrest issued against the suspect in his rented house at Block 12, Lot 8 in Villa Verde Subdivision in Barangay San Vicente in Sto. Tomas City in Batangas.

The court issued the warrant for violation of Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 issued against the foreigner following a case filed against him by a 36-year old woman from Calapan City.

The other suspect identified as Ray Victor Gabucan,21, a resident of Sitio Lumad in Bgy. Poblacion, Mambajao, Camiguin province was arrested in an entrapment operation launched following a complaint from a woman in his neighborhood early morning Sunday.

It turned out that the suspect had threatened to upload the woman’s sex videos and explicit photos if she won’t agree to have sex with him.

Recovered during the sting conducted by the RACU 10 were one Iphone 6 which is now being subjected to a forensic examination by the Region 10 cybercops. The suspect is now being held at the Mambajao police lock-up facility.

Brig. Gen. Rodriguez said that the accused will be facing charges for violation of RA 9995 or the Anti-Photo and Voyeurism Act, grave coercion and RA 9262 or the violence against women and their children act of 2002, all in relation to RA 10175.
