PNP-CIDG stepped up crime and drug drive in December 2024
A TOTAL of 964 lawbreakers were arrested in December last year by agents of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group amid the stepped-up anti-criminality drive ordered by PNP chief General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, the Journal Group learned yesterday.
According to PNP-CIDG director Brigadier General Nicolas D. Torre III, the arrests were made as a result of 885 anti-crime operations they launched last month to further reinforce public safety and security nationwide.
The official said those operations also led in the confiscation of around P158.89 worth of crime evidence including illegal firearms, ammunition, explosives and counterfeit goods.
Brig. Gen. Torre added that these efforts focused on combating various criminal activities, including the apprehension of wanted persons, suppression of loose firearms, illegal gambling, environmental crimes, smuggling, counterfeiting, illegal LPG manufacturing, and terrorism.
He said those operations culminated in the filing of 94 various cases in different courts across the country.
“I commend the unwavering dedication of our CIDG operatives and partner-agencies. Their united efforts have yielded remarkable results in the fight against criminality,” said the PNP-CIDG director as he underscored their firmness in ensuring that lawbreakers are held accountable nationwide.
