TWO most wanted persons in the country were arrested by agents of the Philippine National Police following information provided by the PNP Intelligence Group this month, the Journal Group learned yesterday.

One of the suspects identified as alias ‘Arnel’ was arrested by members of the PNP-IG’s Regional Intelligence 3, the Makati City Police Station, and the Pampanga Police Provincial Office in his hiding place in Montana View in Barangay Panipuan in San Fernando City in Pampanga last Wednesday, said PNP-IG director, Colonel Frankie C. Candelario.

Candelario said that the accused was wanted for the killing of a dismissed Police Officer 2 in Makati City on February 18, 2006. The Department of Interior and Local Government issued a P200,000 monetary reward for his capture in 2009.

The official said the 49-year-old accused had a non-bailable warrant of arrest for murder issued by Judge Dina Teves of the Makati City Regional Trial Court Branch 142 on November 15, 2006 and another warrant for robbery and direct bribery issued by Judge Cesar Solis of the Manila RTC Branch 14 on April 18, 2007.

The Manila court recommended a P116,000 bail for the temporary liberty of the accused in connection with the robbery and direct bribery case filed against him.

The second wanted identified as alias ‘Catherine/Cyril’ was arrested in Bgy. Lower Doongan in Butuan City in Agusan del Norte last Thursday following an ‘intelligence packet’ provided by the PNP-IG Intelligence and Special Operations Division and Technical Support Division.

Members of the PNP-IG were assisted by operatives from the Agusan del Norte Provincial Police Office and the Police Regional Office 13 in serving the warrant of arrest for attempted murder issued against the 33-year-old accused by Judge Fernando Fudalan Jr. of the Bayugan City RTC Branch 7 on November 4, 2021.

Described as a member and political guide of the already dismantled Guerrilla Front 88 of the New People’s Army’s Northern Central Mindanao Regional Committee, the suspect was ordered to pay a P120,000 bail for her temporary liberty, said the PNP-IG in a report to PNP Director for Intelligence, Major General Westrimundo D. Obinque.
