PNP-CIDG agents track down more most wanted

PHILIPPINE National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) director, Brigadier General Romeo M. Caramat Jr. on Sunday announced the arrest of five more most wanted persons in the country amid their stepped up campaign to send lawbreakers behind bars.

In a report to PNP chief, General Benjamin C. Acorda Jr., the official said one of the suspects identified as Roberto Bayabas was tracked down in his hiding place in Barangay Ilocanos Sur, San Fernando City, La Union Wednesday morning by members of the CIDG Regional Field Unit 1 with the support of the Police Regional Office 1.

The 56-year-old Bayabas is the subject of three separate criminal charges with no bail recommended. Judge Loreto Alog Jr. of the Lingayen, Pangasinan Regional Trial Court Branch 69 ordered the arrest of the accused for two counts of direct assault with murder on September 15, 2017.

Judge Walter Junia of the Lingayen RTC Branch 39 on November 8, 2021 ordered the arrest of the suspect for murder. Judge Rixon Garong of the Lingayen RTC Branch 37 issued another warrant of arrest for illegal possession of ammunition against the suspect on May 19, 2020.

Brig. Gen. Caramat described the suspect as the leader of the Bayabas Criminal Gang engaged in gun-for-hire and gunrunning activities in the 2nd district of Pangasinan and nearby La Union province.

The 2nd suspect identified as Arjay Castillo,27, tagged as the 5th most wanted man in Maguindanao Norte and the no. 1 most wanted in Datu Odin Sinsuat municipality was arrested in his hiding place in Bgy. Dalican on Wednesday afternoon.

Members of the CIDG Cotabato and Maguindanao Field Units and the local police arrested the suspect on the strength of a warrant for murder issued by Judge Annabelle Piang of the Cotabato City RTC Branch 13 on October 27, 2022. No bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the suspect who gained notoriety for his involvement in illegal drug trafficking in Cotabato City and other parts of Maguindanao province.

Brig. Gen. Caramat said the suspect has also been named as the principal accused in the murder of one Shariff Sinsuat in Poblacion Dalican in Datu Odin Sinsuat on May 22, 2022.

The three other captured suspects were all described as among Calabarzon region’s most wanted men until they were arrested on the same day, said the official.

One of the three identified as 56-year old Ramilo Campaner was placed under arrest in his residence in Bgy. Camohaguin in Gumaca, Quezon on the basis of a warrant for four counts of rape by sexual assault issued by Judge Marylou Meneses of the Gumaca RTC Branch 62 last April 14.

The 2nd identified as Robie Celedonio, 35, was arrested in Bgy. Baclaran in Parañaque City on the strength of a warrant for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 issued by Judge Ralph Arellano of the Naic, Cavite RTC Branch 132 on October 7, 2022.

The 3rd identified as 70-year old Federico Pepito was arrested in Bgy. Banaybanay in Cabuyao City in Laguna on the basis of a non-bailable warrant of arrest for rape issued by Judge Patricia Cataquiz-Fidel of the Sariaya, Quezon Family Court Branch 16 last April 21.
