PNP chief lauds men for arresting suspect in investment scam

PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief, General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar yesterday congratulated the officers behind the arrest of a suspect in a massive investment scam in Davao del Norte.

The arrested suspect was identified as 47-year old Arnel Aratia, described as the president of the Achievers and Golden Marketing and Consulting which has come under fire from authorities specifically the Securities and Exchange Commission for its supposed involved in a highly- questionable investment scheme in the province.

“I commend the Sto. Tomas Municipal Police Station in Davao del Norte and our Laguna Provincial Police Office for the arrest of Arnel Aratia who stands accused of syndicated estafa and violation of the Securities Regulation Code at a Binan City court,” the top cop said.

“Dapat harapin ng akusado ang mabigat na kasong isinampa laban sa kanya na may kinalaman sa umano’y panggagantso at panloloko sa ating mga kababayan na umano’y nakuhanan niya ng milyon-milyong salapi,” he added.

The AGMC was reported to have lured hundreds of people into investing a minimum of P5,000 up to P1 million to their company with a promised monthly profit of up to P30 percent.

The SEC office in in Davao del Norte had warned against the company as it had no legal personality to solicit investments.

Gen. Eleazar called on those who have been victimized by the group to file a formal complaint so that those behind this scam will be brought to justice.

“We urge other persons who may have invested money or entered a ‘cashback program’ in AGMC and Achievers Golden Holdings Inc. to come forward and lodge a complaint,” he said.
