PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Chief General Dionardo B. Carlos has signed a renewed memorandum of agreement with the Philippine-Chinese Charitable Association, Inc. to provide free hospitalization at the Chinese General Hospital (CGH) for officers and men of the police force wounded in the line of duty.

The signing of the MOA between Gen. Carlos and top officials of the PCCAI chaired by Mr. Antonio Tan was held at the CGH in Sta. Cruz, Manila, and attended by officers of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) headed by Major Gen. Felipe R. Natividad and erstwhile PNP Health Service director, Brig. Gen. Antonino R. Cirujales.

Philanthropist Dr. James G. Dy, the president and chief executive officer of the PCCAI, and other PCCAI-CGH officials Benito Goyokpin and Dr. Kelly Sia fully supported the signing of the agreement.

Under the agreement, the CGH will provide free medical services to PNP personnel wounded in the actual performance of duty – going after criminals or performing administrative functions to keep peace and order.

The PNP will identify police officers who will be covered by the free hospitalization and will exclude those wounded outside the scope of official police functions, such as during drinking sessions or triggered by heated arguments with other persons.

The PNP leadership welcomed the good gesture of the PCCAI-CGH in providing free hospital services to their men wounded in the performance of duty, saying it would greatly boost the morale and welfare of the police force.

Gen. Carlos and Maj. Gen. Natividad were joined by NCRPO district directors, Manila Police District director, Brigadier Gen. Leo M. Francisco; Quezon City Police District director, Brig. Gen. Remus B. Medina; Southern Police District director, Brig. Gen. Jimili L. Macaraeg; and Northern Police District director, Brig. Gen. Ulysses G. Cruz in meeting the PCCAI-CGH officials during the MOA signing.
