PNP-AKG cracks ’23 case of 2 missing kidnap victims
THE all-out effort of the Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) to account for all wanted kidnappers in the country has produced another major result: the recovery of the bodies of a Chinese woman and her 11-year-old son who went missing after they and four of their compatriots were abducted in October 2023.
Key to that was the arrest of one of the men wanted for the kidnapping of the victims inside the Ayala Alabang Village in Muntinlupa City.
The Journal Group learned that shortly after he was arrested by PNP-AKG agents under Colonel Elmer E. Ragay, the suspect, identified as John Cuyson, broke down during questioning and confessed where they buried the bodies of the two victims.
Col. Ragay said that the suspect is the subject of non-bailable warrants for three counts of kidnapping and serious illegal detention, kidnapping with homicide, slight illegal detention and violation of Republic Act 10883 or the Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016.
PNP-AKG records showed that the accused is wanted for his involvement in the abduction of six Chinese nationals, including the woman and her son, and their three Filipino employees composed of a couple and their son at no. 116 Champaca St., Ayala Alabang Village in Muntinlupa City on October 30, 2023.
The three Filipinos were released on the same day in Bgy. Limao in Calauan, Laguna but four of the Chinese victims were found dead, two along Marilaque Highway in Tanay, Rizal on November 1, 2023; and the other two in Infanta, Quezon five days later.
The four slain kidnapping victims were identified as Zeng Chiliang, his wife Xiaoyu Xie, their secretary Zhuang Jianhui and Zeng Liyi, the husband of Hong Rongrong and father of Zeng Zining who went missing and were presumed to have been killed too.
One of the six kidnappers was arrested in Bgy. Putatan, Muntinlupa City on December 28 of the same year following a month-long surveillance.
Two others were also captured in the same month during follow-up operations. They were later charged with kidnapping with homicide and car theft before the Department of Justice.
Acting on information provided by Cuyson, officers of the PNP-AKG Luzon Field Unit headed by Col. Jeff E. Fanged recovered two bodies believed to be that of Hong Rongrong and her 11-year-old son.
The PNP-AKG has sought the help of the PNP Forensic Group in conducting a post-mortem examination and autopsy on the remains to confirm their identities and find out the real cause of their death.
The bodies believed to be that of Hong Rongrong and her son Zineng Zheng were exhumed from a lot in Bgy. San Francisco in General Trias City in Cavite late Friday afternoon, the PNP-AKG reported to PNP chief, General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil.
The remains, which included bones and human skulls, were found at Block 8, Lot 64, Phase 1, Rosemary St. in Savanna Field Subdivision.
One of the retrieved upper skeletal bodies had white upper garments which were believed to be the same being worn by one of the victims when abducted.
The remains were brought to a funeral parlor for forensic and DNA examination.
The PNP-AKG is also looking into some suspected ‘kidnap-me’ cases involving Chinese nationals in the country, the Journal Group learned.
