PNP-AKG agents capture most wanted Malaysian kidnapper
PHILIPPINE National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group Director Brigadier General Cosme A. Abrenica on Tuesday announced the capture of a 25-year-old Malaysian national wanted for a non-bailable kidnapping-for-ransom case in Metro Manila.
The official identified the accused as Goh Youn Chian alias ‘James,’ a Malaysian with a Filipina live-in partner residing in Barangay 139 in Pasay City. The accused was believed to be a ‘tipster’ of a kidnapping gang preying on foreign POGO employees and casino players in the metropolis.
Members of the PNP-AKG Luzon Field Unit headed by Lieutenant Colonel Rossel I. Cejas arrested the wanted foreigner in Cabrera Street in Bgy. 139 11:30 p.m. last Sunday on the strength of warrant of arrest for kidnapping-for-ransom and serious illegal detention issued by Judge Gener M. Gito of the Parañaque City Regional Trial Court Branch 257 last August 5. The court recommended no bail for the temporary liberty of the suspect.
Records showed that the suspect and a policeman were identified as the two principal suspects in the kidnapping of two Chinese nationals and two Filipinos inside the Multinational Village in Parañaque City two months ago.
The victims were freed unharmed after paying a total of P3.5 million ransom to the kidnappers.
Lt. Col. Cejas said the Malaysian, who also previously worked for a POGO company in the country, was identified during the investigation as the kidnappers ‘tipster.’
The policeman with the rank of Corporal was also arrested by the PNP-AKG on the basis of Judge Gito’s order.
PNP-AKG officers led by Captain Winston Banglag arrested the Malaysian suspect following weeks of surveillance operations triggered by information from several informants.
