PNPEFFORTS by the Philippine National Police (PNP) to put to jail lawbreakers in the country from January to date had already resulted in the arrest of nearly 53,000 wanted persons, PNP chief General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil said recently.

Official PNP records showed that from January 1 to October 2, 2024, a total of 52,703 wanted men apart from the 99 top most wanted persons, have been arrested.

Gen. Marbil earlier ordered all police units across the country to intensify their campaign against high-value criminals and wanted persons as part of their broader campaign to enhance national security and ensure a safer environment for all citizens.

Gen. Marbil emphasized the importance of accounting for all wanted persons and high-value criminals amid the ongoing preparations for the 2025 midterm elections.

He also cited the PNP’s E-Warrant System as an essential tool in accounting for the country’s most wanted.

According to the PNP chief, the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management has reported the uploading of 73,337 warrants of arrest, with the majority successfully served by police units.

All 17 Police Regional Offices have been cited for their role in sending wanted persons behind bars.

Add to that the accomplishments of other national operational support units, including the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, the Intelligence Group and the Highway Patrol Group in capturing most wanted men nationwide.

“Intelligence-driven operations’ conducted by the PNP, many of them as a result of information provided by the PNP-IG, have led to the capture of these wanted persons.

A huge number of them facing non-bailable cases for rape and acts of lasciviousness and murder as well as other enemies of the state,” Marbil said.

Gen. Marbil has lauded the efforts and contributions of the PNP-IG in maintaining peace and security in the country.
