PMPC honors Virginia Rodriguez
In recognition of her philanthropic contributions
THE Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) will present a special citation award to Virginia Rodriguez, honoring her as the philanthropist of the year due to her remarkable leadership and advocacy efforts that positively influence the community.
The special award ceremony will be held on March 23, 2025 at the Dolphy Theater in the ABS-CBN Broadcasting Center Compound, on the occasion of the 38th Star Awards for Television, led by PMPC President Mell T. Navarro and Rodel Fernando PMPC Overall Chairman of the PMPC’s 38th Star Awards for Television.
The PMPC cited her invaluable contributions in improving agriculture and education in the country, and for initiating various projects and programs focused on helping the poor farmers and their children.
Known to her close friends as “Vergie”, she is the author of the book entitled “Leave Nobody Hungry” the first agricultural book written under the Marcos administration
Aside from her extraordinary contributions and achievements in the field of agriculture, infrastructure and farming, she also serves as an inspiration to Filipino families nationwide through her courage, spirit, compassion and dedication to community service.
She is the daughter of the late former transportation secretary “Ping” Fernandez, during the term of then President Ferdinand E, Marcos Sr. Her late grandfather was Senator Estanislao Fernandez, who likewise served as the 88th Associate Justice Secretary of the Supreme Court in 1973 until his retirement during the time of then President Marcos Sr.
Rodriguez was also cited for her dedication in community service and for being an exceptional member of the press and media, having been a news reporter and journalist and extended her channels to be more of service to every Filipino.
As former reporter of Manila Bulletin, she wrote voluminous Agriculture-related press releases, social media, company literature, editorial calendars, articles, announcements and media kits.
Rodriguez is a businesswoman that has an open mind and eagerness to learn new things.
