Pinggoy takes oath as Cavite’s 7th district representative
TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite – Cavite 7th District Congressman-elect Crispin Diego “Pinggoy” Remulla has taken his oath of office before Trece Martires City Mayor Gemma Lubigan, Monday, February 27, 2023 at the city hall here.
Pinggoy, who ran under the National Unity Party (NUP), assumed office and will be representing the seventh legislative district composed of Amadeo, Indang, Tanza, and Trece Martires City.
The congressional seat was vacated by his father, Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla, who was appointed by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.
The younger Remulla, who was elected provincial board member in May 2022 election, was proclaimed as the winner in the special election after getting 98,474 votes, or 66.67 percent of the total number of voters, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
He was proclaimed on Sunday at the Provincial Board session hall in the Capitol Compound by the board of canvassers headed by the Cavite Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Mico Morales-Castro and Provincial Prosecutor Vivian Rojo.
His closest rival in the congressional race, independent candidate Melandres De Sagun Jr., got 46,530 votes.
The other candidates, Lito Aguinaldo and Mike Santos, received 1,610 and 1,068 votes, respectively.
