PHOENIX Super LPG overpowered NorthPort, 108-97, to barge into the win column in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.

Du’vaughn Maxwell and Jason Perkins provided the 1-2 punch for the Fuel Masters, who controlled the tempo of the game and led by as many as 27 points on the way to their first win after three losses.

Maxwell finished with 26 points, 11 rebounds and six assists in 40 minutes for Phoenix, which rewarded Jamike Jarin his first victory as a PBA head coach.

Perkins also had 26 points and seven rebounds.

RJ Jazul added 16 points including seven in the fourth quarter, while Sean Manganti chipped in 13 markers.

Marcus Weathers finisihed with 31 points on 11-of-18 shooting with nine rebounds in 42 minutes of action in a losing effort for Northport.

Kent Salado and Art Dela Cruz Jr. added 15 and 12 points, respectively, for coach Bonnie Tan.

In the second game, Converge FiberX sustained its winning run with a 112-98 victory over Rain or Shine.

Jamaal Franklin finished with a triple double of 25 points, 15 assists and 13 rebounds and Justine Arana added a career second-best 21 points in Converge’s fourth straight win.
