PHOA hails Discovery World Corp. for bagging 2 major int’l tourism awards
THE Philippine Hotel Owners Association (PHOA) congratulated the Discovery World Corporation for winning two major international tourism awards.
PHOA President Arthur M. Lopez praised Discovery Shores Boracay over the weekend for earning a spot in Condé Nast Traveler’s Top 25 Resorts in Asia.
Another hotel managed by the Discovery World Corporation, Club Paradise Palawan, also earned a spot in the Top 100 Sustainable Stories released by Green Destinations.
“PHOA lauds Discovery Shores Boracay, one of our finest hotel-members, for making it to the Top 25 Best Resorts in Asia, based on prestigious award-giving body Condé Nast Traveler. This recent award would definitely help the Philippine tourism industry gain a reputation for being one of the first-class destinations in Southeast Asia,” said Lopez.
The Condé Nast Traveler 2021 Readers’ Choice Awards recently unveiled the list of the best-of the-best establishments for hospitality, tourism, and travel destinations.
More than 20,000 readers who participated in the survey considered Discovery Shores Boracay as one of the hotels and spas that “they can escape to” and a spot that “sparked their curiosity.”
Club Paradise Palawan was the only Philippine property that was included in the list.
Green Destinations, a non-profit foundation, made the list to put a spotlight on local and regional destinations around the world that are taking significant steps and making promising progress towards a more sustainable tourism industry.
“PHOA acknowledges our members’ passion and effort in making sure that their establishments are at par with other international hotels. The awards received by our hotel-members are also an achievement for the Philippine tourism industry,” Lopez said.
“As our hotel-members continue to do their part in ensuring that their establishments are top of the line, we remain committed in our mission to represent them and coordinate with the national government for the development of the country’s tourism industry,” he added.
