PhilMech distributes P107M worth of farm machineries to farmers
THE Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech) distributed P107-million worth of farm machineries to farmers in Nueva Ecija recently.
According to PhilMech Director Dionisio Alvindia, the 2023 machinery distribution was done under the RCEF Mechanization Program of the government.
Director Alvindia said a total of 59 qualified Farmers’ Cooperatives and Associations (FCAs) and Local Government Units (LGUs) have been provided with such machineries that will surely ease and speed up the works of farmers in the country.
Among the machinery given to farmers on January 26, 2023 are 15 units of hand tractors, 27 units of walk-behind rice transplanters, 2 units of riding-type rice transplanters, 2 units of precision rice seeders, 3 units of rice reapers, 25 units of rice combine harvesters and 14 units of 6-ton recirculating dryers.
The PhilMech director said this was just the initial distribution because in the next days and months they will be distributing machineries to other provinces.
“Pauna pa lamang po iyan ngayon taon, susunod na sa ibang lalawigan at probinsiya hanggang mapagkalooban namin ang lahat ng magsasaka sa bansa,” Dir. Alvindia assured.
PhilMech is one of the attached agencies of the Department of Agriculture (DA) so the distribution of farm machinery was personally attended by DA Senior Undersecretary Domingo Panganiban, DA Director for Operations U-Nichols Manalo, PLGU Nueva Ecija Representative Atty. Ferdinand Abesamis, Science City of Muñoz Mayor Baby Armi Alvarez, Villar SIPAG Representative Ms. Mabel Esguerra, Nueva Ecija 3rd District Representative Hon. Rosanna Vergara, and Nueva Ecija 2nd District Representative Hon. Joseph Violago.
Dir. Alvindia took office in March 2022 and promised to implement the projects being promoted by President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr., for the benefit of millions of farmers and to make sure that there is food sufficiency in our country.
