PhilHealth should pay for doctors’ professional fees — Cong. Tulfo
SENATORIAL candidate Erwin Tulfo is planning to propose a law that would require the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) to shoulder the professional fees of doctors.
In a radio interview, ACT-CIS Representative Tulfo said that payment for the professional fees is one of the common problems experienced by patients who are about to be discharged from hospitals.
“Ang PhilHealth kasi, ang sasagutin lang ay yung mga gamot at room charge ng pasyente. Iyong ayuda naman na nakukuha ng mga mahihirap nating kababayan mula sa medical assistance sa DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development) o kaya sa Department of Health (DOH) ay pambayad lang din sa mga bayarin sa pagpapagamot sa ospital at mga gamot na hindi sagot ng PhilHealth,” said Cong. Tulfo.
The legislator also stressed, “Kaya hindi rin mailalabas yung pasyente sa mismong araw dahil walang pambayad sa professional fees ng mga doktor o espesyalista.Dapat isama na rin talaga ang professional fees ng mga doktor sa PhilHealth.”
“Ano pa ang saysay ng salary deductions sa mga sweldo ng tao at ang pondo na binibigay ng Kongreso taon-taon?,” he said.
Tulfo plans to file the proposed legislation that would require PhilHealth to pay for the professional fees of doctors once Congress resumes its session on June 2.
