PH vows to elevate transport system to global standards

THE Philippine delegation, headed by the Department of Transportation (DOTr), attended the face-to-face 43rd ASEAN Maritime Transport Working (MTWG) Meeting, at Nha Trang, Vietnam on September 20, 2022.

This is the first physical meeting of the ASEAN MTWG two years after the declaration of the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the first day of the meeting, the Philippine delegation expressed the country’s commitment in transforming the Philippine transport system and elevating it to global standards.

The Philippine delegation also reported updates regarding its port development projects, the Davao-General Santos-Bitung RO-RO route and the country’s efforts on Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) management.

The Philippine delegation is composed of representatives from the DOTr, Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and Philippines Ports Authority (PPA).
