THE Philippines and South Africa have agreed to deepen cooperation on several areas of mutual interest.

Ambassador-designate to South Africa Noralyn Jubaira Baja recently called on Sindiswa Mququ, Acting Director General of the South African Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO), to discuss and exchange views on how to reinvigorate bilateral ties.

During the meeting, both sides agreed to revive the Bilateral Consultative Forum (BCF) which has been temporarily stalled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Both sides also recognized that the BCF is an excellent platform to expand and deepen the two countries’ partnership in areas of shared interests.

Joining the meeting are First Secretary and Consul Maurice A. Tiempo and DIRCO Director for Southeast Asia Raymond Medhurst.
