PH most wanted with P1.3M reward caught in Maguindanao

ONE of the country’s most wanted criminals carrying a P1.3 million bounty on his head was captured in a Philippine National Police (PNP) Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-led operation in Datu Piang, Maguindanao 7 a.m. Friday, PNP-CIDG director, Major General Albert Ignatius D. Ferro said.

In a report to PNP chief, General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar, the official identified the arrested suspect as Anayatin Duma, the subject of a warrant of arrest for multiple murder and multiple frustrated murder issued by Maguindanao Judge Annabele Piang on September 16, 2019. The suspect has been described as a member of a local terrorist group.

Ferro said the suspect was tracked down in his hiding place in Sitio Tangguapo in Bgy. Damabalas, Datu Piang by members of the CIDG Bangsamoro Administrative Region Field Unit (BAR).

The CIDG operatives were supported by officers from the Army’s 6th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Air Force, Maguindanao Police Provincial Office and Datu Piang Municipal Police Station in serving the warrant of arrest against the suspect.

Ferro said the suspect is now under the custody of the CIDG-BAR office pending his presentation to court and issuance of a jail commitment order.

The official said a P1.3 million reward was offered for the capture of the suspect by the Department of National Defense and Department of the Interior and Local Government.
