THE country has detected 95 additional cases of the Omicron BA.5 subvariant of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), the Department of Health (DOH) reported Friday.

In an online media forum, DOH officer-in-charge Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said 65 individuals from the Davao Region; 25 from Soccsksargen, and one each from Northern Mindanao; Caraga and the National Capital Region (NCR), have tested positive for the BA.5 subvariant.

“Fifty-two individuals are fully vaccinated, three cases have not been vaccinated while the vaccination status of the remaining 40 individuals are still being verified,” she said.

Their exposures and travel histories are still being verified.

About 83 individuals are now tagged as recovered, five are still undergoing isolation, and the outcomes of the remaining seven are still being verified.

There were also 18 additional BA.4 cases – five from Soccsksargen and two from the Davao Region.

All seven individuals were fully vaccinated and are now tagged as recovered.

The DOH is still verifying their exposures and travel histories.

At least two additional BA.2.12.1 cases were also detected – both from the Davao Region.

They are fully vaccinated and are now tagged as recovered.

However, their exposures and travel histories are still being verified.

All the reported cases are based on the latest genome sequencing results as of August 3.

To date, the country has logged a total of 3,107 BA.5 cases, 104 BA.4 cases, and 174 BA.2.12.1 cases. Philippine News Agency
