AROUND 765 animal pets have been vaccinated in the continuing vaccination drive organized by the office of Manila Vice Mayor Yul Servo Nieto in connection with the Rabies Awareness Month this March under Republic Act 9482.

Nieto said the “Oplan Alis Rabies” started last March 8 in Sampaloc, Manila, with 250 pets vaccinated, followed on March 15, where 215 pets were vaccinated in Barangay 454 also in Sampaloc, Manila.

“If left without proper medical care, rabies could be fatal,” Vice Mayor Nieto said.

Another vaccination drive was launched on Wednesday in Barangay 522, with 300 pets getting free shots. The last vaccination schedule is on March 29.

Residents and pet owners who want clarifications about the program should contact Ms. Joan Basemayor, assistant district manager of District 4, and Mr. RJ Fuentes at No. 1721 Quiricada St. cor. Sulu St., Sta. Cruz, Manila.

Vice Mayor Nieto said the vaccination drive was properly coordinated with the Manila Veterinary Inspection Board (VIB). All dog breeds and sizes including stray dogs and cats were given shots.
