THE Perlas Spikers have already mounted their month-long training bubble in Baguio as part of preparations for the Premier Volleyball League season next month.

Baguio City Mayor Benjie Magalong visited the Perlas Spikers’ morning practice yesterday at the St. Vincent Gym. which will serve as the club’s training venue.

The Rei Diaz-mentored team will be in Baguio for the entire month of June and will immediately head to the PVL bubble. The Games and Amusements Board last week approved the Perlas’ training venue.

“We chose Baguio because they have all the facilities available for us to prepare properly for the upcoming conference,” said Perlas owner Charo Soriano.

“Luckily, the Baguio LGU, through Mayor [Benjamin] Magalong, was generous enough to allow us to conduct our trainings there. We then had to comply with GAB requirements like the letter of request, team health and safety protocols, and the inspection of our training venue and accommodation,” she added.

“After which, we coordinated with the Baguio City Sports office as well as the Health Services Office and submitted the requirements on their end. Once approved, we’re given the Baguio LGU clearance stating that we’re allowed to train there already.”

The Perlas Spikers will be following strict protocols, including no leisurely walks around the Summer Capital during their camp.
