THE low salaries of public servants is one of the major reasons why corruption continues to worry the Filipino people, including the ordinary citizens throughout the country.

Aware of the plight of low-salaried state officials and employees, the new administration is seen to find ways and means to enhance the living conditions of these public servants.

In fact, with crusading President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. at the helm of government, there should be happy reasons to expect the best in the days, months and years ahead.

“Hindi lang ang mga ordinaryong lingkod-bayan and makikinabang sa pro-poor agenda ng bagong administrasyon,” according to an avid supporter of the Chief Executive from Ilocos Norte.

We are made to believe that our new government officials, headed by President Marcos, have the political will to meet the many needs of the members of the working class.

Of course, everybody agrees that the BBM administration cannot grant salary adjustment to public servants at this time because the government lacks financial resources.

“Ubos na ubos ang pera ni Juan dela Cruz dahil ginamit ito para tulungan ang mga kababayan natin na pinahirapan ng COVID-19,” according to a retired barangay official.

However, if a salary increase is not possible, perhaps a package of non-wage benefits could be the answer because we cannot afford to have a worker unrest at this time.

With talented and well-meaning economic managers, the Marcos government is in a position to address the many challenges confronting the country and the people.

The only son and namesake of the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos, with the help of all sectors of Philippine society, is capable of unburdening our citizens from problems.
