WHO will be the 2022 National Executive chess champion?

The Philippine Executive Chess Association (PECA), headed by Dr. Fred Paez, will hold the National Executive Chess Championship – National Capital Region leg on Sunday, Sept. 18 at the 3rd Level, New Wing, Robinsons Magnolia in Quezon City.

Game time is from 12 noon to 7 p.m.

At stake are cash prizes and trophies to the top finishers in the one-day, over-the- board competition.

The champion will bring home the lion’s share of P7,000 and trophy, according to Dr. Paez.

The runner-up and the third placer will receive P5,000 and trophy and P3,000 and trophy, respectively.

The fourth placer will get P2,000 and P1,000, respectively.

Cash prizes of P1,000 and medals will also be given to the top 1900 and below, top 1800 and below, top unrated, top female and top senior (50 years old and above).

Registration is P700.

Eligible to participate are members of PECA. Participants must also be members of the NCFP and have FIDE ID numbers.

Meanwhile, Dr. Paez and other PECA officers expressed their deepest condolences to the family of former PECA president Dr. Jenny Mayor, who passed away last Sunday, Sept. 11 due to lingering illness.

Dr.Mayor was 63.

“We are deeply saddened by the untimely demise of our former PECA president, Dr. Jenny Mayor. He was a friend to all and the local chess community will surely miss him and his games,” said Dr. Paez in a statement.
