PDL surrenders after 15 years

A PERSON deprived of liberty (PDL) who bolted out of the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) in Zamboanga City 15 years ago has recently surrendered to police authorities in Cebu City.

The SRPPF-Public Information Office said the PDL “surrendered at the Police Regional Office 7 (PRO7), Regional Intelligence Division, Camp Sergio Osmeña Sr. Cebu City.”

No other details, including the identity of the PDL, were provided by officials of the prison as of this writing.

The SRPPF immediately conducted a medical check-up and verified the PDL’s identity.

Aside from SRPPF, the other prison facilities under the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) are The Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm in Palawan, Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong City, Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm in Oriental Mindoro, New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa, Davao Prison and Penal Farm in Davao del Norte, and the Leyte Regional Prison in Southern Leyte.

BuCor is an attached agency of the Department of Justice (DOJ). Under the law, the DOJ has administrative supervision over BuCor.
