PDEA gives over P10M reward to 13 informants

THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) yesterday handed P10,262,337.03 monetary rewards to 13 confidential informants who provided credible information that led to 22 successful anti-drug operations and seizure of billions of pesos worth of shabu and other illegal drugs in 2021.

The granting of financial incentives is under PDEA “Operation Private Eye,” a citizen-based information collection program designed to encourage the active participation of private citizens to report illegal drug activities in their communities, said PDEA chair Director General Wilkins M. Villanueva.

The official gave the monetary rewards to the informants who were identified only through their code names and wore masks to protect their anonymity during the awarding ceremony held at the PDEA National Headquarters in Quezon City.

Tipster “Dream” received P2 million for giving the information that triggered a buy-bust operation in Novaliches, Quezon City on August 1, 2021 which led to the arrest of three high-value targets and the confiscation of more than 127 kilograms of shabu.

He also received P1,094,267.50 reward money for providing the tip which led to a sting in Barangay Molino, Bacoor City, Cavite on July 23, 2021 which netted some 20 kilos of shabu and a major drug target.

The same informant also got P1,050,854.55 for leading the PDEA to another HVT in General Luna Street in Bgy. Paso de Blas in Valenzuela City yielded more than 16 kilos of shabu on August 1, 2021.

Tipster “Bonky” received P1,219,866.50 for providing the information which resulted in the confiscation of nearly 22 kilograms of shabu from a top target in Kalawaan, Pasig City on May 9, 2021.

He also got P766,739.75 for giving the tip which led to the jailing of an HVT and the seizure of nearly 10.4 kilograms of shabu in Bgy. Burol 1, Dasmariñas City, Cavite on April 26, 2021.

On the other hand, informant “Palanyag” received P815,474.61 for providing the information which resulted in the arrest of an HVT and the recovery of more than 10 kilos of shabu in Bgy. Sto. Niño in Parañaque City on May 2, 2021.

The same informant also received P807,176.85 for giving the tip which led to the recovery of more than 10 kilograms of shabu from 3 top drug personalities in Camella Homes in Pamplona III, Las Piñas City on May 7, 2021.

He also got P159,946.93 for giving the information which resulted in the arrest of 5 top drug targets in Bgy. Tunasan in Muntinlupa City on March 8, 2021. The same person also received more than P166,000 for providing the information which led to the arrest of 4 HVTs and the confiscation of nearly 3.6 kilos of shabu in Arca South in Taguig City and in Bgy. Barangka in Marikina City on May 15 and March 2 respectively last year.

Another tipster codenamed “Salonga” got P581,454.06 for giving the information which led in the arrest of 2 ‘HVTs’ and the confiscation of over 7 kilos of shabu in Molino IV in Bacoor City on September 29, 2021 while tipster ‘Myay’ got P500,000 for giving the tip which led in the arrest of 3 cannabis traffickers and the confiscation of more than 156 kilograms of dried marijuana leaves in Sadanga, Mountain Province on October 12 last year.

Another identified only as “Baki” received P269,200.00 for giving the tip which resulted in the destruction of moreh than 11,000 pieces of fully-grown marijuana plants and over 6 kilos of dried leaves in Bgy. Lingab in Luuk, Sulu on July 17, 2021.

The rest identified only through their codenames “Otoh,” “Datu, “ “Litoko,” “Nonon,” “Marie,” “Kobid -21” and “ABS” received nearly P800,000 for providing the information which led in the seizure of fully-grown marijuana plants in Caluang, Indanan and Maimbung municipalities in Sulu; and in Sadanga, Mt. Province as well as nearly 9 kilos of shabu in Pasay City, Mastura, Maguindanao, Parang, Sulu and in Pasay City last year.

Those tips also resulted in the arrest of 20 targets who are now all facing non-bailable charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 just like the other arrested suspects.
