PDEA destroys nearly P6.5-M marijuana crops in Kalinga
AN estimated P6.5 million worth of fully-grown marijuana plants were uprooted and burned by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Cordillera Police Regional Office in Kalinga province on Monday, officials said yesterday.
A report from the PDEA headed by Director General Isagani R. Nerez said that the prohibited crops were found growing in an uninhabited land in Bgy. Romualdez in Rizal, Kalinga.
Members of the Cordillera PDEA Regional Office headed by Director Derrick Arnold C. Carreon launched the marijuana eradication drive which came in the heels of another successful operation in Benguet province that resulted in the destruction of some P6 million worth of cannabis.
No arrests, however, were made during those operations.
