PCFI reiterates support for Speaker Romualdez
THE Partylist Coalition Foundation Inc. (PCFI) on Monday rallied anew behind Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez following former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s tirades against the House of Representatives.
The PCFI said Speaker Romualdez “has undeniably placed our institution on the right side of history” on its firm resolve to realign the P650 million confidential funds of the Office of the Vice President and Department of Education (DepEd) led by Vice President Sara Duterte.
“The House has flourished under his supervision, as shown in numerous metrics that reflect his strategic and resilient administration. Because of all these and more, the PCFI reaffirms our unwavering support for Speaker Romualdez’s continued leadership. We recognize and commend his experience and foresight in making judicious decisions that enable the House of Representatives to be in line with the aspirations of our people,” the PCFI said.
The manifesto of support was signed by Ako Bicol partylist Rep. Zaldy Co, president; Reps. Jose Gay “GP” G. Padiernos, vice-president for operations; Jose “Bong” J. Teves Jr., vice-president; Angelica Natasha A. Co, secretary general; and Raymund Democrito C. Mendoza, Deputy Speaker.
The PCFI said their group “acknowledges and expresses our gratitude towards the exemplary leadership of Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez in the House of Representatives. Foremost is our sincere appreciation for his defense of the institution, ensuring the rightful representation of 300 representatives as mandated by the Constitution.”
“Under Speaker Romualdez’s guidance and inspiration, the House has achieved an unprecedented highest approval rating in its history, transforming it into one of the nation’s most respectable institutions. Among the extraordinary actions was the transfer of Confidential Funds (CF) from several civilian agencies to bolster the protection of the West Philippine Sea,” the PCFI said.
The PCFI said the decision of the House of Representatives on confidential funds “showcases his (Speaker Romualdez) prudent and thoughtful approach, echoing our commitment as representatives to listen and respond to the voices of our kababayan.”
“It is also imperative to underscore Speaker Romualdez’s steadfast dedication to defending and elevating our institution,” the PCFI added.
