PCAP: Heroes, Eagles in rematch
IN a rematch of their All-Filipino title showdown, Laguna Heroes and Camarines Soaring Eagles clash in what could be another heart-stopping encounter in the 2021 PCAP-GM Wesley So Cup chess championship this Saturday.
North champion Laguna made history by beating South winner Camarines, 14.5-6.5 and 9.5-11.5, and 2-1, in their Armageddon encounter to win the overall championship last April.
In the Second Conference dubbed as GM Wesley So Cup, Laguna is currently third with 13-4 win-loss record, while Camarines is tied for the lead with Cordova Dutchess Dagami Warriors with 15-2 slate.
..Before their face off, Laguna will battle the Zamboanga Sultans (10-7) , while Camarines will play the Manila Indios Bravos (15-2).
Other featured matches will pit the San Juan Predators (15-2) against .the Lapu-Lapu Naki Warriors (6-11) and Mindoro Tamaraws (2-15); Caloocan Load Manna Knights (13-4) against Negros Kingsmen (11-6) and Palawan Queens Gambits ( 5-12); Cordova against Pasig Pirates ( 116) and Olongapo Rainbow ( 0-17); and Iloilo Kisela Knights against Pasig and Quezon City Simba’s Tribe (3-14).
PCAP, the first and only professional chess league in the country, is headed by President- Commissioner Atty. Paul Elaura, Chairman Michael Angelo Chua and Vice Chairman Ariel Potot.
The tournament is sponsored by GM Wesley So and San Miguel Corporation and sanctioned by the Games and Amusements Board (GAB), headed by Chairman Abraham “Baham” Mitra
