SENATE President Francis “Chiz” Escudero praised President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s swift action regarding the controversial escape of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo.

Escudero said the Chief Executive’s decisive handling of the incident, aligning with his earlier promise that “heads will roll” following Guo’s embarrassing departure from the country only proved his seriousness in handling critical issues like POGO.

At the same time, Escudero cast doubt on Guo’s claim that no Filipinos assisted her escape.

“I do not believe Alice Guo’s assertion that no other Filipinos helped her for I am of the belief that there were other personalities, possibly official in government, other than the Bureau of Immigration, who helped her,” Escudero said.

He emphasized his belief that other personalities, including potential government officials outside the Bureau of Immigration, were involved.

He also urged authorities to pursue other personalities who might be implicated in the escape, stressing that the absence of these individuals in the country should not impede efforts to bring them to justice.

He particularly called for the financiers and key figures behind Guo’s flight to be held accountable.

Escudero also addressed concerns over threats to Guo’s life, suggesting that while such threats might be credible, they are dependent on the extent of her revelations.
