PBBM takes inaugural ride of LRT 1 Cavite extension
PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led the inauguration of the Light Rail Transit 1 (LRT-1) Cavite Extension Project Phase 1 yesterday in Parañaque City.
The President joined the inaugural ride during the launch of the partial operation.
Marcos said the government will continue to make the country’s transport system more seamless and modernized.
“Our journey towards a more seamless and modernized public transportation system does not end here,” Marcos said.
“We are committed to building station after station, reaching as far and as fast as our people’s needs dictate,” the President added.
The five new stations are Redemptorist_ASEANA station, MIA Road station, PITX station, Ninoy Aquino Avenue station and Dr. Santos station.
The President recognized that some of the ongoing transport projects may not be completed within his leadership as these long-term endeavors extend beyond administrations.
“This is the nature of railway development and of any large-scale development: this is not a short-term endeavor. It requires patience, persistence, and passion and commitment that extends beyond immediate timelines,” he said
The L1CE Project, funded through a hybrid Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement, involves the construction of an 11.7-kilometer extension to the existing 20.7 km urban rail line, with eight additional stations with a provision for two additional stations traversing the cities of Parañaque, Las Piñas, and Bacoor, Cavite.
It involves the procurement of 30 four-car 4th Generation (4G) Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs) to be operated across the entire LRT-1 alignment.
