Passenger jeep falls into Quezon ravine, 16 hurt

PAGBILAO, Quezon – A driver of a passenger jeep and 15 passengers were hurt after the vehicle falls into a 100-meter deep ravine along the Old Zigzag Road, Bgy. Silangan Malicboy in this town.

Town police commander Major Milo Tabernilla identified 12 of them as Ronnel Francia, 28, driver, of Bgy. Tagas San Jose, Camarines Sur; passengers Benz Jomar Fuentes, 23; John Cedric Gardon, 15; Gina Lozano, 52; Sharmaine Corino, 26; Noli Mendoza Francia, 18; Beah Grace Camacho, 10; Anabel Camacho, Jose Camacho, Cherry Samson, Solen Samson, and Analyn Arnejo.

According to PCol. Joel Villanueva, director of Quezon Police Provincial Office, the victims came from a wedding in San Jose, Camarines Sur, and were on their way home in Dasmariñas, Cavite when the accident happened.

The report said the driver of the Cavite-bound jeep lost control of the vehicle after its brakes suddenly failed.

The vehicle then crashed into a barrier and subsequently fell into a ravine but no one was killed.

Elements of Pagbilao Police Station and members of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) immediately responded to the scene and conducted a rescue operation and rushed the victims to Quezon Medical Center in Lucena City.
