DAVAO CITY — Davao City First District Rep. Paolo Z. Duterte confirmed on Monday that he has contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

In a statement, the presidential son said his reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test revealed he is positive for the infection.

Duterte said he is currently in isolation at a hospital while his family are under quarantine at their residence.

He, however, assured the public that he is not manifesting any severe symptoms.

“I thank everyone who showed their concern to me and my family,” he added.

“Rest assured that I will comply with the quarantine and will continue to serve the people of Davao even in isolation,” he further added.

Davao City allows 1.6K COVID-19 patients to isolate at home

Meanwhile, Mayor Sara Duterte confirmed Monday that the Davao City Covid-19 Task Force has allowed 1,593 more coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) patients to isolate at home.

The move came just a week after the first batch of 365 Covid-19 patients were allowed for home isolation last September 20.

In her weekly radio interview on Monday, Duterte said the decision to allow a new batch to isolate at home was made by the health group of the Davao City COVID-19 Task Force’s response cluster as of September 26.

“The health group [decides and approves] and they are a big group who also is responsible for testing, tracing and isolation or quarantining,” she added.

Duterte also said households with Covid-19 patients allowed to home isolate will automatically be placed on lockdown.

As of September 27, a total of 704 houses are on lockdown. Apart from that,12 buildings, four compounds, and one school are also on lockdown.

The local government started placing households on lockdown this month after they were found to be the source of community transmissions.

The city government is in constant communication with barangay captains and other barangay functionaries such as the Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams, Safety and Security Cluster from the Philippine National Police, City Health Office, and district health offices to strengthen and monitor the lockdowns in households.
