TWO “most wanted persons” (MWPs) in the country are now in jail after being arrested by combined agents of the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) this week, an official said on Saturday.

One 59-year-old male suspect was captured for two counts of murder and attempted and frustrated murder, while the other MWP was nabbed for rape charges, said PAOCC Executive Director Gilbert DC Cruz.

Cruz said that the first suspect was tracked down in his hiding place in Bagong Silang, Caloocan City, last Thursday by members of the PNP Intelligence Group (IG) under Brigadier Gen. Andrew D. Cayad.

The IG National Capital Region Intelligence Unit (IG-NCRIU) officers were supported by members of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), and the Caloocan City Police Station in arresting the suspect who was ordered arrested without bail by the Dumaguete City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 34 and 37 in 2000 and 2011 respectively.

The suspect is also the subject of a warrant for attempted murder issued by two branches of Dumaguete City RTCs with a recommended P340,000 bail for attempted and frustrated murder cases.

PNP-IG NCR Chief Col. Arturo P. Brual Jr. said that the suspect was accused of shooting one victim with a caliber .45 pistol in Dumaguete City on September 25, 1997.

On February 7, 1998, he was also identified as the man who shot three victims in the same city before fleeing.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) offered a P100,000 reward for the suspect’s capture.

On the other hand, the 2nd MWP in the Calabarzon region was arrested in a PAOCC-initiated police manhunt operation in Bgy. Lumbak in Pulilan, Bulacan, after more than ten years in hiding.

According to the PAOCC executive director, the 38-year-old native of San Antonio, Quezon was arrested by members of the PNP-IG Regional Intelligence Unit-NCR at 10 a.m. last Wednesday.

The PNP-IG operatives were assisted by officers from the San Antonio Municipal Police Station, the PRO 4-A, NCRPO Regional Special Operations Unit, and the PNP Women and Children Protection Unit in tracking down the accused.

The suspect is the subject of a non-bailable warrant of arrest issued by Judge Eloida de Leon-Diaz of the Lucena City RTC Br. 54 for sexually abusing a young “person with a disability” on February 21, 2012.
