Pampanga’s most wanted felon killed in gunfight
A MAN described as Pampanga’s most wanted person was killed in an encounter with the authorities in Arayat municipality.
The operation was triggered by an “intelligence packe” provided by the Philippine National Police Intelligence Group, the Journal Group learned yesterday.
The suspect identified as Jojo Garcia Fajardo has been the subject of a massive police operation for his involvement in a number of major criminal activities in Pampanga and other nearby provinces, said PNP-IG officer-in-charge Brig. Gen. Romeo J. Macapaz.
The official said that Garcia is the subject of a non-bailable warrant of arrest for murder issued by Judge Rowena Rama-Chavez of the San Fernando City Regional Trial Court Branch 47 last March 6 and a second warrant of arrest for robbery issued by Judge Percyveranda Abdon of the Arayat Municipal Trial Court on March 16, 2022, with a P36,000 recommended bail.
Members of the PNP-IG’s Regional Intelligence Unit 3 developed the “intelligence packet,” which led to the neutralization of the suspect in an encounter along the Mega Dike Extension in Bgy. Cangatba in Porac municipality around 4:45 a.m. Monday.
Combined operatives of the RIU3, the Porac Municipal Police Station and the Pampanga Police Provincial Office Provincial Intelligence Unit were about to serve the warrants of arrest issued against the accused when he exchanged fire with the officers, prompting lawmen to retaliate, killing the suspect, a resident of Bgy. Suclayin in Arayat municipality, on the spot.
Macapaz said that the suspect has been identified as the killer of Elmer Salonga in Bgy. San Agustin in Arayat last January 31.
